After reviewing grant applications, SkinStore.com, an international e-commerce specialty retailer providing scientifically sound solutions for healthy skin, has selected area non-profit organizations to receive grant monies via their Giving Back program.
The Gold River (Sacramento), California Employee Giving Committee reviewed applicants and made decisions for dispersal of funds, with the goal of benefiting the largest number of people. Learning that children comprise more than a third of the California population living at or below the poverty level, the committee was particularly motivated by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children in their own community.
SkinStore.com has been part of the online retailer drugstore.com (Bellevue, WA) family since 2010. Embracing the drugstore.com Foundation’s mission to serve “Basic Needs and Healthy Starts” in the areas in which drugstore has physical operations (Bellevue, Washington, Gold River, California and Swedesboro, New Jersey), SkinStore focused on organizations that provide physical and emotional support, enable self-sufficiency and work to improve the lives of children and adults.
Steve Brown, President of SkinStore.com, said, “The Employee Giving Committee carefully reviewed the applications received and made their decisions based on the following criteria: helping the largest number of beneficiaries, determining that the funds go directly where needed and that the organizations are local. These grants will directly fund existing programs that support families in need in the Sacramento area, in the way of providing food, clothing, tutoring and support for the disabled.”
Physician-founded in 1997, SkinStore.com carries over 250 premium brands of skin care and beauty products. One of the nation’s largest specialty retailers, SkinStore.com offers its customers free online consultation in product selection and application from its panel of licensed estheticians. A wholly owned subsidiary of drugstore.com, the “Basic Needs and Healthy Starts” program is part of the drugstore.com Foundation’s program for community support. SkinStore.com is headquartered in Gold River (Sacramento), California with enterprises in Sydney, Australia and affiliates in Hangzhou, China.
