“One of our original goals when forming the company,” stated Caroline Eager, Founder, “was supporting job creation in the textile industry”. American Made Dorm & Home believes consumers are waking up to the importance of USA-made textiles. “Our country has strict environmental standards that most other manufacturing countries don’t follow. As a result, when you buy made in USA, you know it has passed rigorous standards.” The quality of the products is also a significant factor.
Partner Carol Ann Anderson said, “We oversee the manufacturing process from start to finish, controlling the quality of our products.” American Made Dorm & Home selects USA-made fabrics and then manufactures comforters, pillows, curtains, sheets and other bedding accessories for both dorm and home. Their plants are located in the Carolinas, and each has a different specialty. Both Caroline Eager and Carol Ann Anderson spend a great deal of their time searching for new sources of made in USA fabrics. Attending High Point’s Showtime in June, they found a surprisingly high number of sources for USA made fabrics.
American Made Dorm & Home was formed after the founder couldn’t find quality dorm bedding and accessories for her college-bound son. At the same time, there was heightened press on the importance of buying made in USA goods. ABC Evening News anchor Diane Sawyer ran a series on “Made in USA” throughout 2011, influencing the company's mission. In late 2011, American Made Dorm was founded to provide a means for college students to buy high quality, American made dorm bedding. Recently, American Made Dorm & Home was featured on Louisville, Kentucky’s WHAS 11, an ABC affiliate, highlighting its “made in USA” dorm bedding.
American Made Dorm & Home is a SWaM-certified, women owned business that has also been certified by Made in US-Certified. The company manufactures baby bedding under the trademark "Liz and Roo". The company is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.
