Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) July 04, 2013
PCM of California, Inc., (PCM) employees mobilized recently to collect diapers, baby wipes and other staples sorely lacking in needy families throughout Orange County.
PCM’s effort was part of a community-wide effort called HomeAid Essentials for Young Lives, which collects much-needed everyday items for homeless infants and toddlers.
“At PCM, we’re all about enhancing the lives of those who reside in our communities,” said PCM Chief Executive Officer Donny Disbro. “HomeAid Essentials does the same for needy families, particularly for mothers and children, which make up the fastest growing segment of the homeless population in Orange County.”
In all, PCM employees gathered over 1,000 diapers and baby wipes packages on Saturday, May 18.
The program, spearheaded locally by HomeAid Orange County in partnership with the Children and Families Commission of Orange County and the YMCA of Orange County, mobilized businesses, community organizations and individuals to collect baby products for distribution to local non-profits that assist homeless mothers and their children. More than 260 local business and organizations ran collection drives.
“We appreciate the efforts of PCM employees in helping us gather these critically needed items,” said Scott Larson, Executive Director of HomeAid Orange County. “With their help, we were able to collect over one million diapers, baby wipes and other baby hygiene products so desperately needed by Orange County families in need.”
HomeAid Orange County is the charitable arm of the Building Industry Association of Orange County, of which PCM is a member. HomeAid’s mission is to end homelessness and among other things, the 501(c)3 non-profit organization leverages the collective resources and skills of the Orange County home building industry to build and renovate shelters for those who find themselves homeless due to sudden job loss, catastrophic illness, spousal desertion or Domestic violence.
