Princess Lily celebrates the fact that single parents can care for a child as well as dual parents. I’m not saying it’s easy, but the reward will show on your children’s faces.

Even princesses don’t have perfect lives. In her new children’s book, “Princess Lily,” Ood Stalcup introduces readers to Lily, a princess with a life that’s pretty close to perfect, even though her parents are separated. Through the story of a father’s love for his daughter, Stalcup conveys the importance of a healthy, divorced co-parenting relationship.

Stalcup was prompted to write the book after she was unable to find a Father’s Day card that celebrated a single parent. Inspired by the relationship between her single friend and his daughter, Stalcup uses their relationship as an example of a positive single-parent household.

“My instructor and his daughter obviously love and appreciate each other very much, despite the fact that he only see her two days a week,” Stalcup says. “Princess Lily celebrates the fact that single parents can care for a child as well as dual parents.

“I’m not saying it’s easy, but the reward will show on your children’s faces.”
