Audio-Digest Foundation Announces the Release of Otolaryngology Volume 46, Issue 08: Updates in Allergy and Pediatric Rhinosinusitis.

The goals of this program are to improve diagnosis and management of allergies and pediatric rhinosinusitis. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:

1. Test patients for local allergic rhinitis using mucosal brush biopsy and other techniques.
2. Use alternative immunotherapy strategies in treatment of allergies.
3. Differentiate between symptoms of viral upper respiratory infection and bacterial rhinosinusitis in children.
4. Determine when work-up for immunodeficiency or cystic fibrosis is warranted for children presenting with chronic or recurrent rhinosinusitis.
5. Decide when surgical intervention is appropriate to treat pediatric rhinosinusitis and choose the most appropriate procedure.

The original programs were presented by William Reisacher, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, New York, NY, and Associate Attending Otolaryngology, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and Mark D. Rizzi, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Staff Otorhinolaryngologist, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
