The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival in Hamburg, Pennsylvania has historically been known not only as the East Coast’s most distinguished hamburger celebration but also as the site where Competitive Eating has advanced far beyond other events and developed into the host site of The National Hamburger Eating Championship. This year, The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival National Hamburger Eating Championship Presented by Red Robin and Cigars International will once again be officially sanctioned by the World’s only Independent Competitive Eating organization, All Pro Eating. The National Hamburger Eating Championship will be held on August 31, 2013 and includes a prize pool estimated at over $2,000.00 which will award $900.00 to the First Place finisher.

“The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival has grown tremendously and offers something for everyone in the family. There are three stages of non-stop entertainment, kids activities, a variety of artisans and crafters, a beer and wine tent and lots of other contests in addition to hundreds of different hamburgers to eat!”, said Deena Kershner, Festival Organizer.
Last year’s winner and the #1 Ranked Independent Competitive Eater in the World, Jamie “The Bear” McDonald from Connecticut is scheduled to participate as he looks to increase his totals from 2012’s event of 11 Red Robin hamburgers totaling 7.91 pounds in 10 minutes. In addition, Competitive Eating’s heavy hitter, David “Tiger Wings and Things” Brunelli who finished 2nd in last year’s event will look to avenge his loss and take his first win against Jamie McDonald. Several other Professional Competitive Eaters have been confirmed including “Munchin” Mike Longo, Joel "The Cannon" Podelsky, Wayne “WaneyWonder” Algenio, Jeremy “The Jowl” Park, Dimitry “The Ukraine Train” Shchupak and Paul “Poppa” Pickett.
