..the climate is shifting towards a candidate-driven marketplace in the executive, managerial and professional sector. Candidates have more control over the hiring process, and finding the right talent is becoming increasingly difficult.

The Hispanic business community will soon get a crash course in today’s best recruiting and hiring practices at an August lunch meeting of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis (HCC). The lunch and learn session entitled “How to Attract the Best Talent in the Impending Hiring Crisis”, features Chris Heinz, VP of Operations at Westport One, an affiliate of MRINetwork®, one of the largest search and recruitment organizations in the world. The event takes place on August 14, 2013 at 11:30am at the HCC Centene Technology & Resource Centre.

At the crux of Heinz’s presentation is data from the most recent MRINetwork Recruiter Sentiment Study which reveals 79 percent of the participating recruiters describe the labor market as candidate-driven, up 12 percent from just a year ago. “These statistics are certainly representative of our industry today, where candidates are interviewing with several companies and have multiple offers to consider,” says Heinz, who has served as an executive recruiter since 1997.

Currently responsible for internal operations of executive recruitment at Westport One, Heinz is very aware of the challenges now facing hiring authorities. “In today’s post-recession recovery,” he says, “the climate is shifting towards a candidate-driven marketplace in the executive, managerial and professional sector. Candidates have more control over the hiring process, and finding the right talent is becoming increasingly difficult. My goal with this presentation is to show business owners how to better compete in the professional job market and hire top performers that will help them move their companies to the next level.”

Heinz will focus on the following elements of attracting top talent:

  • The realities of the professional job market
  • How to implement a hiring process that will help employers beat out the competition in obtaining the most desirable candidates
  • How to create a timeline that will keep candidates engaged
  • How to develop an on-boarding process that fosters retention

Heinz was invited to speak at the HCC, courtesy of a relationship with St. Louis University’s School for Professional Studies, where he serves on the executive advisory board. The presentation supports the mission of HCC, which was founded in 1982, to promote Hispanic small businesses and to improve business opportunities for all in the region. Attendees will gain a better perspective of the job market among top performers and how to attract these individuals to their organizations.
