Metairie, LA (PRWEB) August 22, 2013
This summer, Metairie Park Country Day School sophomore Madeline Gordon participated in the 19th Maccabiah Games, the quadrennial Jewish Olympics held in Israel the year following the Olympic games. Every four years, the best Jewish athletes throughout the world compete in Open, Masters, Junior’s, and Disabled competitions. Last summer, Maccabiah USA held a three-day golf qualifier at PGA National in Florida, where Madeline placed second, and was invited to participate in the Olympic competition.
More than 9,000 Jewish athletes representing 78 countries attended the world’s third largest sporting event. The USA Jr. Girls Golf Team consisted of five players ages 15-18, including Madeline, who defeated Team Israel to win the gold medal in a three-day match, using the team’s three lowest scores.
