The awards are the event of the year for the lighting industry, according to an article in Lighting Magazine (16 Aug). Last year was a huge success, and submission deadlines are fast approaching for 2014. The awards allow the latest achievements in the industry to be celebrated, and offer an opportunity for successful designers to gain recognition on a national level.
This year there is a brand new category: Manufacturer of the Year, which aims to celebrate an outstanding company supplying UK lighting. There are also new additions to the product judging panel, including last year’s Lighting Designer of the Year, Florence Lam. The event will take place at the Park Lane Hilton, and will allow guests to network and celebrate through to 3am. Entry forms for your project or product must be submitted by 6 September via the LDA’s website.
Editor of Lighting Magazine, Ben Cronin, commented on the awards:
“We’ve got a great judging panel lined up this year with some significant names from the industry. I’d especially encourage manufacturers to enter our product categories as this is a great way of putting your products in front of an audience of specifiers and end users.”
Lights 4 Living, who are a leading supplier of home lighting, are excited to see what the awards produce. A spokesperson for the company commented:
“The LDAs are always a fantastic event. It is a great way for up and coming designers and innovative designs to get recognised. People don’t just want functionality from their lighting anymore, they want style. It will be interesting to see what exciting products turn up.”
