David Wroe Named to Astonish Board of Directors

Wroe started his career in technology more than four decades ago. First, as a systems analyst at Texas Instruments, he quickly moved up to become the Manager of Operations Research, and then the Manager of Production Control. In that time he created a system that won the SBC Pioneer of Timesharing Award for Texas Instruments.

He later joined Commercial Union (CU) in 1978 as VP Agency Interface, where he led the effort to automate policy flow from their agents. This is also where he worked with key insurance industry contributors to implement a technology with emerging agency management vendors rather than delivering carrier terminals.

After CU acquired Agency Management Systems (AMS) in 1981, Wroe was asked to head AMS development and he became CEO in 1983. In that time, AMS grew into the largest provider of automated services to agents with a customer base exceeding 20,000 agencies.

In 1996, Wroe was asked to join the executive team at CNA as Chief Technology Officer, where he added CIO function and heading up CNA’s venture group to his responsibilities. He retired to Cape Cod in 2001 and started a consulting company, Clareworks, in 2009.
