Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 29, 2013
Smith & Associates, the largest independent distributor of electronic components, today announces the appointment of Brandon Escalante to the role of Trading Manager for Smith’s Pleasanton, California office. In this role, Brandon will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the transactions of Smith’s California sales team and expanding the office’s initiatives and reach.
Brandon has been a vital part of Smith’s sales team since his 2000 hiring, serving in and supporting some of Smith’s strongest-performing sales groups. In 2012, he took on the creation, organization, and management of trading teams serving key contract manufacturers from a global standpoint as Smith’s Director, Global Account Management. In his new role, he will use his years of industry expertise and leadership experience to facilitate and support his trading team’s work and expand Smith California’s customer base.
“My primary goal is to expand this key office and build its market presence,” said Brandon. “This is a prime region to gain a deeper foothold in, and I hope to leverage our role as one of Smith’s leading sales offices to broaden our customer base and the strong supply chain support we can offer these customers.”
Before joining Smith, Brandon gained deep expertise in the oil and gas industry, working for seven years in natural gas trading with Torch Energy Advisors. He received his B.A. from the University of Houston’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
“Brandon has demonstrated real management skill and brought a high level of professionalism to Smith’s work with some of our most valued customers,” said Marc Barnhill, Smith’s Chief Trading Officer. “We are fortunate to have him running this vital office, and look forward to seeing what else he can achieve.”
