Named L-INK, the design by Jean-Sebastien Lagrange simply looks like an arty poster, according to the article 'Poster transforms into a Lamp when folded over' by PSFK (19th Aug). It is in fact a sheet of paper covered with conductive ink. This special ink turns on LEDs when the circuit is completed, achieved by folding up the bottom of the poster to allow two magnets to touch. LEDs are scattered across the pattern, with a row placed along the fold, creating an ambient uplight.
Wires are hidden behind the poster to connect it to a power supply. The bottom of the poster is cleverly cut at an angle, so it looks straight when folded up on one side. The original design offers a stylish lighting solution which creates a soft mood light whilst also saving space. The designer claims that anyone can recreate the poster simply by printing the ink on a sheet of paper in the same pattern.
