The new lamp, called the AREA, was designed for German brand Dreiplus, according to an article by Gizmodo (26th Aug) titled 'An LED Lamp That Recognizes Your Gestures: No Jedi Powers Required'. It looks like a simple under-cabinet lamp, but proves to be much more than that. The strip of LEDs can be switched on and off simply by waving your fingers near it. LEDs can even be activated individually according to the amount of light desired. The modern design illuminates with a simple gesture, creating a user-friendly, fun lamp.
The technology means that someone can ‘grab’ and ‘pull’ the light, dragging it from one side of the lamp to the other. One side of the lamp can be alight, both, alternate sections, or even just one dot of light. The flexible lamp allows for varying light levels and does not even require touching. As always with LEDs, the light is also energy efficient and long lasting.
Lights 4 Living, who provide high quality home lighting, are avid followers of industry trends and developments. A representative for the firm commented on the new lamp:
“We’ve seen a wealth of innovation within the lighting sector recently, and this is thanks to new talent with original ideas like this. People want flexibility from their lighting so that one lamp can do the job of many. Lighting has evolved hugely over recent years, and consumers are spoilt for choice.
