A historic ride back to the Civil War era is set to take place on Saturday September 21st aboard the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad. The historic steam train will be host to members of the Washington State Civil War Association as they pose as citizens and soldiers from the Civil War era and re-enact historic events. This unique ride aboard the scenic railroad departs from the Elbe depot and travels to Mineral, WA. Tickets can be purchased at the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad website.

This historic event taking place on Saturday September 21, 2013 will have three different departure times; 10 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Passengers will be taken back in history as they ride through the pristine hills of Mount Rainier. Guests will witness a short re-enactment of the Civil War as well as tour the restoration shops in Mineral, WA before returning to Elbe, WA.

The Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad (MRSR) is a steam-powered heritage railroad operating in Washington State between the towns of Elbe and Mineral. MRSR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the longest continuously operating steam train railroad in the Pacific Northwest. Approximately 30,000 passengers travel the forest and foothills of Mt. Rainier annually on these vintage restored trains. The majority of the excursions are operated and supported by dedicated volunteers. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales support continued preservation and restoration efforts.
