Columbus, OH (PRWEB) September 09, 2013
Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a global leader in protecting and optimizing critical infrastructure, today announced that D. Scott Barbour, executive vice president, Emerson, and business leader of Emerson Network Power will discuss the company’s perspective on the evolution of electric power generation and distribution in his keynote address, “The Evolution of Energy Management,” at Darnell’s Energy Summit in Dallas, Texas, tomorrow.
Barbour’s presentation will cover the current energy landscape and the technologies in development that will lead the way to an alternative energy future. “The U.S. power chain looks much the same as it has for decades, but significant change is coming sooner than many may expect,” said Barbour. “Problems with the aging power grid -- including high cost, inconsistent performance and high CO2 emissions -- are sparking the development of alternative power models.”
Barbour will discuss the drive toward efficiency as the first remedy in attempts to solve some of those problems, while stressing that efficiency is just one part of a larger and more complex energy management strategy. His presentation will look at other potential components of that strategy, including micro grids and increased personalization of energy management, and the challenges to and eventual impacts of fundamental changes to the country’s power chain.
Barbour’s keynote will kick off the summit at 10:00 a.m. at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel. Darnell’s first-annual Energy Summit will combine the Darnell Power Forum, Green Building Power Forum and Smart Grid Electronics Forum.
