We wanted to promote some of the wonderful places that call Northeast Ohio their home. In addition, we wanted to promote our unique capabilities. - David Margiotta, President of AGS Custom Graphics

AGS Custom Graphics recently launched a self-promotion program with a unique twist – the focus of the campaign for this print communications company is on the area’s top cultural and recreational venues – but it’s all about encouraging customers and prospects to visit those venues. Entitled, “OH SNAP!”, this program prompts customers and prospects of AGS Custom Graphics to not only visit various locations throughout Northeast Ohio, but to also ‘snap’ photos of themselves enjoying their experiences at each.
“We wanted to promote some of the wonderful places that call Northeast Ohio their home. In addition, we wanted to promote our unique capabilities. We thought it would be far more meaningful to encourage our customers to actually go to the venues than to simply print cool pictures of them,” says David Margiotta, President of AGS Custom Graphics. “This is a really intense, year-long promotion that draws attention to all the incredible locations and also showcases how an integrated marketing campaign can build awareness.”
The company has already partnered with the Cleveland Natural History Museum, the Cleveland Zoo, The Cleveland Orchestra, Pickwick & Frolic – Hilarities, Great Lakes Brewing Company and Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Other venues are in negotiation to be included throughout the year. “These are places and organizations that everyone in Northeast Ohio should get to know better. They are truly gems of our community and we really wanted to shine a light on them,” says Margiotta.
Customers are instructed to snap photos of themselves at each venue then post their photos via Instagram or directly from their smartphones to the company’s Twitter account (@agscg) or Facebook page. The company then selects monthly winners from those who post and awards them prizes. At the end of the year, a grand prize winner will be chosen and will be given a choice of a Table for Two at Lola Bistro and a night at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, a limousine ride and floor seats to a 2014 Cleveland Cavaliers games or an iPad Mini.
The promotion is the brain-child of members of the Leadership Development Program at AGS Custom Graphics, a group of young management associates charged with building awareness of their company’s broad communications capabilities. “This promo is a great blend of community involvement and participation and the introduction of our expanse of services at AGS Custom Graphics,” says associate Troy Field. “We’re thrilled with the early results and it’s great to see so many people getting out to these wonderful venues to discover what’s happening in Northeast Ohio,” she said.
To kick off the campaign, a dimensional package was hand delivered to each customer and prospect by representatives of AGS Custom Graphics. It included an explanation of the promotion as well as a pair of sunglasses. “We tossed in an incentive to the campaign,” said Field. “If customers wear the sunglasses we provided in their ‘snap’ they double their chances to win,” she added. So far, the sunglasses are appearing in more than 80% of the photos posted in the campaign. “I guess it’s working pretty well,” she laughed.
