TangoTab Announces Partnership With “LT,” Pro Football Great LaDainian Tomlinson For Hunger Action Month and Beyond
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 23, 2013 -- TangoTab helps everyone feed the hungry, simply by dining out. Now, the Dallas-based company is getting a hand in its mission from football great LaDainian Tomlinson – known to his millions of fans as “LT” – to raise awareness during September’s Hunger Action Month. LT, a retired San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and TCU running back who has set records and defied odds, is partnering with TangoTab to inspire everyone to join TangoTab in the fight against hunger.
"No child or family should have to go hungry. Hunger has far-reaching impacts into our society today, with more people going to bed hungry tonight than anyone might expect,” said Tomlinson. “I am excited to partner with TangoTab, a company that is helping consumers and restaurants battle this important issue, because just like in life and on the football field, accomplishing something big takes a team approach."
To date, consumers have taken the fight against hunger into their own hands by using the TangoTab app (free for download on iPhone and Android smart phones) and donating 190,000 meals to people in need – a number that is growing exponentially. During Hunger Action Month in September, TangoTab is doubling its benefit by donating two meals for every offer redeemed, in an effort to hit 200,000 meals donated. All donations stay in the local area, and, in DFW, the North Texas Food Bank and Minnie’s Food Pantry are beneficiaries.
Here’s how it works: TangoTab features restaurant deal offers in the diner’s preferred area or by type of cuisine. When the diner redeems the deal (for a free item, a discounted price, etc.), TangoTab donates a meal to a local food pantry. The restaurants pay a small percentage to TangoTab for bringing diners in, thereby increasing traffic on days when they need it most. Diners save money, restaurants get traffic, and the hungry have a meal, too. DFW TangoTab restaurants include: Original Pancake House, Cantina Laredo, El Fenix, Chili’s, Subway and more.
“We are grateful for the help our users give us every day – and having the partnership of someone we all respect, LT, is moving and impactful,” said Andre Angel, founder and CEO of TangoTab, a “philanthrepeneur” who is putting his business acumen to good use to benefit consumers, the restaurant industry, and the 50.1 million Americans who go to bed hungry each night. “We say, ‘When you eat, they eat.’ Each day, more than a billion meals are eating out in our country – if we do the math and do the work, we can solve the crisis of hunger in America. We are excited that someone like LT can help us score the biggest touchdown ever by helping feed people in need.”
