Creative Family Connections LLC, a surrogacy matching and legal services law firm, is profiled as a major surrogacy agency by Washingtonian magazine in its feature story on surrogacy in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.

We are honored that the authors of Washingtonian’s feature story on surrogacy selected our firm to assist them in developing the accompanying piece, 'How to Pick a Surrogacy Agency,' a checklist for use by intended parents.

In a recent special feature on surrogacy, “Meet the Baby Carriers,” Washingtonian magazine profiles Creative Family Connections LLC as one of only a few major surrogacy companies in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.

Focusing on issues relating to gestational surrogacy and featuring personal accounts from two of Creative Family Connections’ own gestational surrogates, the article describes the history of Creative Family Connections, illustrating how Founder and Managing Attorney, Diane S. Hinson, came to create an agency dedicated to meeting the needs of all intended parents – gay or straight, single or coupled, domestic or international – in fulfilling their family building dreams.

Throughout the feature story, the authors reference Hinson’s expertise in surrogacy-related matters, even tapping into her experience to help them create a related “sidebar article” that gives readers a checklist on selecting a surrogacy agency.

“We are honored that the authors of Washingtonian’s feature story on surrogacy selected our firm to assist them in developing the accompanying piece, “How to Pick a Surrogacy Agency,” a checklist for use by intended parents as they consider selecting a surrogacy agency,” said Hinson. “It is an implicit acknowledgment that Creative Family Connections abides by the highest ethical and moral guidelines as a surrogacy matching and legal services law firm.”

The feature story also highlights the Collaborative Reproduction Act of 2013, legislation introduced by District of Columbia Councilmember David Catania, which seeks to legalize and provide safeguards for surrogacy contracts in the District. Hinson played a key role in helping to draft the legislation and was the lead-off witness at a recent hearing before the Council’s Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.

“I am pleased that the author highlighted this legislative initiative,” Hinson commented. “The District is the only jurisdiction in the entire country where surrogacy contracts are criminal. It’s beyond time for the law to change.”
