FacilitySource Announces Transition to In-House Software Development

FacilitySource, the world leader in facility maintenance management for geographically dispersed real estate portfolios, announced today the successful conclusion of its major initiative to move all development and support of its market-leading software in-house.

Through its proprietary technology and analytics platform, FacilitySource provides each of its clients with real-time access to facilities maintenance work orders and activities, as well as asset management and cost tracking reporting and analysis. Until July 2013, software development at FacilitySource was conducted by a third-party organization. Taking development in-house will ensure the team is integrated with FacilitySource’s vision of being the world leader in facility management. “Our internal team has expertise in building HTML5-based mobile clients as well as knowledge in using Business Intelligence (BI) and Big Data technologies to build analytical dashboards that ensures FacilitySource continues to deliver superior solutions to clients,” said CTO Sunil Padiyar. The in-house organization is divided into three teams with three distinct focuses: core product development, customer onboarding, and servicing the everyday needs or events at client sites. Each team has its own dedicated resources and project manager, and is able to remain focused exclusively on its own objectives. FacilitySource now has complete control over resource prioritization, which leads to two important benefits for clients: enhanced responsiveness to customer needs, and greater insights into customer and industry data.

In addition to the reorganization of its development function, FacilitySource has also secured a new hosting provider to enhance security and protect client data even better than before. The provider is one of the world’s most secure, exceeding industry security standards in areas such as SOC 2, SSAE-16, PCI, and HIPAA. Furthermore, multiple hardware and software-based firewalls now protect customer data, while new levels of redundancy and fault tolerance have been introduced into the backend systems. Other benefits of moving to this particular hosting provider include virtualization, the ability to grow or shrink bandwidth on demand, as well as a more rapid and agile response to any problems in the data center through round-the-clock monitoring.
