As California’s Home Energy Rating System [HERS] Program Becomes a Critical Measurement to Real Estate Valuation, Ambassador Energy Enhances their Solar Sales and Marketing Team with a HERS Specialist

By the beginning of 2014, HERS Ratings will become a staple conversation for California residents planning to buy or sell a home. By 2015, the HERS score will be posted on every home for sale in California.

Solar goes a long way on the scorecard to making up for inefficiencies.

Murrieta, CA (PRWEB) September 30, 2013

In July 2013, Ambassador Energy engaged Mark Ambrose to speak at the newly-crafted Solar Education Seminar Series. Mark suggested that the seminars include segments on how HERS ratings will be changing the climate of home-buying in mere months. After just one seminar and learning of the significant changes coming down the pike, Ambassador Energy executives made room on their elite sales team for Ambrose, who will continue to facilitate seminars, and also help homeowners through his solar consultation endeavors with Ambassador Solar.

Per the California Energy Commission, the CEC is "required by Public Resources Code Section 25942 to establish criteria for a statewide home energy rating program for residential dwellings. The goal of the program is to create a consistent, accurate, and uniform rating system based on a single statewide rating scale that can serve to differentiate the energy efficiency levels between California homes and to prioritize the investment in cost-effective home energy efficiency measures."

HERS scores range from 0 to 250 and are represented on a bar going from red to green, with green being most efficient. "Adding solar PV to a home is, perhaps, the easiest way to get your HERS score in the green," said Ambrose. "Solar goes a long way on the scorecard to making up for inefficiencies, such as older doors, windows, and poor insulation. Within the next year, there will be no escaping a poor HERS score. Now is the time for homeowners to improve their scores, before they plan to sell, so that they can also enjoy the cost savings of solar. At the end of the day, when HERS ratings are clearly published like Miles Per Gallon on a car, home values will be effected by tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars."
