For 28 days, 42 museums around San Diego will offer 50% off their regular admission price, so gather the kids, invite some friends or just bring that someone special along to enjoy the many San Diego attractions at half the normal price. This is the 24th year for this popular event where tens of thousand of residents and tourists are able to sample some of San Diego’s finest museums and attractions.
To take advantage of this special offer, one needs to go to select Macy’s department stores beginning Feb. 1st to get a museum pass. The pass will enable visitors to purchase up to 4 museum passes at half price. The passes are good for the entire month of February. Here are a few of the numerous choices available.
1.) Birch Aquarium - Located above La Jolla Shores, Birch Aquarium will entertain all ages with their interactive exhibits, hands on displays and stunning array of marine life. While stepping into a world of seahorses, sharks and coral reefs, one will learn about the cutting edge discoveries which affect our everyday lives. Open daily from 9am-5pm, The Birch Aquarium will entertain, educate and captivate everyone.
2.) USS Midway Museum - Docked at Navy Pier in Downtown and conveniently close to popular San Diego hotels, this floating city offers a glimpse into the life of the 225,000 Midway sailors who lived aboard this mighty vessel. The Midway is the longest serving Navy aircraft of the 20th century. With over 60 exhibits including the crews sleeping quarters, post office and even the ships jail, one will experience life at sea without leaving the port. Self-guided tours and two flight simulators, will enhance the experience. Open daily from 10am-5pm, this San Diego attraction will educate and excite visitors of all ages.
3.) The New Children's Museum - This interactive playground will inspire everyone from toddlers to teens to play, think and create. Thought provoking exhibits, such as “Trash”, which examines how we view trash and it’s effects on us all, will encourage visitors to be aware and plan for the future. There are art studios for kids of all ages to get involved and create their own masterpiece. In addition there are art education classes which offer ongoing programs and after school activities. Open daily from 10am-4pm except Tuesdays, The New Children's Museum will engage and enlighten kids and adults alike.
