Dickinson Wright/Mariscal Weeks is pleased to announce that Attorney Christopher Kramer has been appointed to the Eminent Domain and Land Use Committee of the Transportation Research Board, effective in 2014.

Mr. Kramer is a Member in the firm’s Phoenix office. His practice emphasizes domain litigation, primarily the representation of condemning authorities. He has served as project and condemnation counsel for major urban freeway corridors; traffic interchanges; and roadway expansions; and has condemned property for roads, bridges, transit, flood control, parks, wetlands, airports, public buildings, and utilities.

Mr. Kramer has presented programs on Eminent Domain and related topics for the State Bar of Arizona, The National and Arizona Eminent Domain Conferences (Co-chair, 2007-2009), the National Business Institute, The International Right of Way Association, and the American Council of Engineering Companies. He is co-chair of the bi-annual Arizona Condemnation Summit (2010-present).

The Eminent Domain and Land Use Committee studies the application of eminent domain and police power controls to land for highway purposes, including specific problems involving the legal basis and processes of land acquisition for highway purposes and control of roadside land use, and the techniques of using condemnation, purchase, and regulation of land for highway purposes.

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is one of six major divisions of the National Research Council – a private, nonprofit institution that is the principal operating agency of the National Academies in providing services to the government, the public, and the scientific and engineering communities. The Transportation Research Board’s varied activities annually engage more than 7,000 engineers, scientists and other transportation researchers and practitioners from the public and private sectors and academia, all of whom contribute their expertise in the public interest by participating on TRB committees, panels, and task forces. The program is supported by state transportation departments, federal agencies including the component administrations of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and other organizations and individuals interested in the development of transportation.
