Eagan, MN (PRWEB) January 17, 2013
CaringBridge, the nonprofit caring social network that connects people during any type of health event, recently launched an online fundraising platform called Event Central.
Event Central allows individuals and organizations to raise donations in support of CaringBridge by providing online tools and support for hosting a fundraiser. Individuals can make their next athletic event (marathon, triathlon, bike ride) a fundraiser, plan their own event (car wash, bake sale, wine tasting), or even raise funds in honor of a special day (birthday, wedding, health milestone).
Using Event Central makes it easy to create a personalized fundraising website to spread the word to family and friends and collect donations. The money raised through Event Central supports CaringBridge, making it possible for millions of people to connect, share and receive support during a health event.
“Many people who use CaringBridge look for a way to give back,” said Susan Umlor, CaringBridge Development Specialist. “Social fundraising is becoming increasingly more popular, with millions of people participating in some form of online giving. Using Event Central makes hosting your own fundraiser easy and fun.”
When Kate Falco’s friend Jeff was hit by a car, his family used CaringBridge to keep his community connected and updated about his recovery. Kate wanted to do something in honor of her friend and his family, so she gave her miles meaning and dedicated her half marathon run in Nashville to raising funds for CaringBridge.
“Raising money through an athletic event for an organization that is all about keeping people connected seemed a perfect way to honor my friend,” said Kate.
In just under three weeks, Kate raised over $2,700 for CaringBridge.
