Anyone who has been stationed overseas knows and has relied on the Stars and Stripes to keep them informed.

The award-winning journalism of Stars and Stripes, the U.S. military’s only independent news media, is coming to Fort Bliss, Texas.

Relied on for decades as the premier newspaper for service members and their families stationed overseas, Stars and Stripes now brings its unique content stateside with a special U.S. edition. Beginning May 21, feature articles and in-depth stories reported by Stars and Stripes journalists from U.S. military installations all over the world will appear for the first time at Fort Bliss.

Stars and Stripes’ award-winning journalists provide unique reports from military bases around the world on topics of vital interest to the military community. They cover Europe, Pacific, the Pentagon, Capitol Hill – some are even embedded with downrange forces – and provide a “boots on the ground” perspective.

The Stars and Stripes U.S. Edition gathers the best of each week’s reporting into a single publication.

In addition to providing coverage of military operations and issues, Stars and Stripes is the only news media that operates from inside the Department of Defense, but with total editorial independence. The Stars and Stripes U.S. Edition will provide the Fort Bliss military community, from active duty to veterans and their families, with information they won’t get anywhere else.

We are proud to partner with the Laven Publishing Group, publishers of the Fort Bliss Monitor newspaper, who will bring the Stars and Stripes to Fort Bliss twice a month on Tuesdays.

“We are very excited to bring this well-known publication to Fort Bliss,” said Susan Laven, vice president of the Laven Publishing Group. “It will complement The Monitor with national and international articles of interest to active-duty military, military families, Reservists, National Guard, veterans and retirees. Anyone who has been stationed overseas knows and has relied on the Stars and Stripes to keep them informed.”
