Tourists and travellers seeking to behold the various natural wonders, wildlife, and cultures of Australia's many regions may find it difficult at times to plot the best route that would enable them to see and experience as much of the location as they can for the duration of their trip. The Great Ocean Road online resource makes planning a driving holiday simple by providing three new itinerary options that will bring holidaymakers straight to some of the most captivating coastal sights and attractions between Torquay and Warrnambool.
"Development of this site is our response to the frustration of many guests that they have not allowed enough time to experience the Great Ocean Road region," explains a representative of GreatOceanRoad.info. "We have selected all the entries to assist you as you plan your vacation in the region."
The three itineraries recommended by the site’s local travel experts are as follows:
1. Great Ocean Road on to South Australia (3 Days)
Day 1: Melbourne to Apollo Bay - Spend the morning exploring surfing culture at famous surf beaches, then continue on to the rainforest as well as the rolling green hills and exceptional beach of Apollo Bay.
Day 2: Apollo Bay to Port Fairy - View the wild Shipwreck Coast and the walks, waterfalls, river crossings and other rainforest features from beach and clifftop outlooks before enjoying good dining at Port Fairy.
Day 3: Port Fairy to the Coonawarra Wine District - Explore historic towns, white sand dunes and the best wine growing regions in one day.
2. Great Ocean Road and Rainforest Experience (4 Days)
This four-day driving itinerary includes all activities included in the Great Ocean Road on to South Australia route, with an added treat: the second day will be spent at the Apollo Bay Rainforest circuit. Select desired tour activities for the day from those offered by the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures (Rainforest Tree Top Walk or Zip Line Tour).
3. Great Ocean Road to the Grampians (3 days)
The third itinerary option includes the first two steps of the Great Ocean Road on to South Australia route. The third day, however, takes travellers from Port Fairy to the Grampians to visit volcanic lakes, limestone escarpments, and fantastic white sand dunes. Holidaymakers end the day's excursions by savouring delectable fare at Dunkeld.
