“It was not until I began working with Northwest Health Systems (NWHS) that I even knew long-term care pharmacy existed,” said Ms. Hernandez who has been a pharmacy technician for more than ten years. Now she can’t imagine working in any other type of pharmacy. NWHS provides medication, durable medical equipment, medication administration records and consultation services to residents in assisted living, memory care, enhanced care, Parkinson's and intermediate care communities as well as adult family homes and supported living.
Working for NWHS allows Ms. Hernandez to work as part of a healthcare team that includes pharmacists, technicians, prescribers, nurses, medication aides and even students in order to provide appropriate medication administration to residents in their communities.
Ms. Hernandez’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from Whitman College (Walla Walla, WA) in 2003, a Bachelor of Science from Washington State University (Pullman, WA) in 2006 and a Master of Science in Human Biology with a graduate certificate in Health Services Administration from Eastern Washington University (Cheney, WA) in 2009.
