SharePoint Solutions will hold an instructor-led business intelligence training class in suburban Chicago at its PCCTI Healthcare Training Center-Oak Brook location Feb. 26-28. Students also may attend from their desks through the company’s new live online remote attendance option. The cost for either option is $1,895.

The class, “Business Intelligence Training – the Microsoft Self-Service BI Toolset,” provides students with training to gather, assimilate and share a wide array of business data in days instead of months by employing a set of powerful, user-friendly tools.

“Once the domain of an elite group of highly specialized IT professionals, Business Intelligence has now been made accessible to business professionals through the Microsoft Self-Service BI Toolset,” said Jeff Cate, president of SharePoint Solutions and author/instructor of the course.

“Better business intelligence leads to better-informed business decisions,” he added.

In a new video Cate provides a brief overview of the evolution of Business Intelligence, a description of Microsoft’s BI Tools—PowerPivot, Power View, SQL Report Builder and SharePoint—and he explains how these tools enable business professionals to quickly and efficiently mine important data their organization’s decision makers need.

This is an intermediate- to advanced-level course, and is for business professionals who are experienced SharePoint 2010 power users. It is not for beginners. Prospective students should feel very comfortable working with medium to complex Excel workbooks with formulas, multiple data sources, Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts, and should have at least six months experience working in SharePoint 2010 on a regular basis.

To use these new BI tools in production, an organization must have deployed (or be planning to deploy) the on-premises version of SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition and an instance of SQL Server 2012 Enterprise or Business Intelligence Edition as an add-on application server in its SharePoint 2010 farm. Previous versions of SQL Server can still be used simultaneously for storing SharePoint content.

Based in Nashville, Tenn., SharePoint Solutions is a Microsoft Certified Partner and a nationwide leader in expert-led, in-person and online public classes on SharePoint products and technologies. The company’s software division professionally develops high-quality commercial add-ons for SharePoint.
