Increasingly, the cloud platform or platform-as-a-service (PaaS) is the top choice of middleware as IT professionals seek complete platforms that can scale from a single instance to running complete enterprise applications as a service. WSO2 today announced that WSO2 Co-founder and CTO Paul Fremantle will present a comprehensive PaaS approach at Cloud East 2013 conference in a tutorial entitled “Stratos and App Factory.” The Cloud East 2013 conference will be held May 24, 2013 at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge, UK.
Taking Advantage of an Open Source PaaS
The tutorial is aimed at cloud developers and architects looking to use PaaS and extend cloud capabilities within or across organizations. Paul will review the WSO2 Stratos open source Java PaaS foundation and its evolution, including core principles and approaches. He also will provide an overview of the forthcoming WSO2 App Factory open source DevOps PaaS (currently in beta) and examine how it adds continuous integration and application lifecycle management to WSO2 Stratos. Paul will combine demonstrations with hands-on information to explain how to use WSO2 Stratos and WSO2 App Factory to create a development and runtime PaaS. Additionally, he will discuss key capabilities they provide, including support for multi-tenancy, elasticity, polyglot language support via "cartridges", and lightweight containers using Linux Containers (LXC). The session will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 1:00-1:45 p.m., at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge, UK.
