Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will celebrate the contributions of Asian and Pacific Islander American Angelenos during the 2013 Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Opening Ceremonies on Friday, May 10, 2013 in City Council Chambers, 200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA at 10:00 a.m.
2013 Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month will begin with a ceremony inside Council Chambers where Mayor Villaraigosa will recognize and honor Iron Chef America Jet Tila with the Dream of Los Angeles Award, LA Conservation Corps Executive Director Bruce Saito with the Spirit of Los Angeles Award, and General Manager, Dennis Davis of LA18 KSCI-TV which broadcasts local news in Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese and Korean to 2.5 million Asian-American viewers, with the Hope of Los Angeles Award. The Mayor will also unveil the 2013 Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month Calendar and Cultural Guide produced by the Department of Cultural Affairs.
The ceremony will be followed by a free public event with food and live entertainment at South Plaza, which is located at 200 N. Main Street (directly across from City Hall).
