Spain has long been a favourite for British and Northern European investors, however there are other up and coming destinations like Turkey that can also offer the same high quality accommodation with some excellent golf courses nearby.
(PRWEB UK) 7 May 2013
Colordarcy analysts carried out some significant research on the world’s favourite golf property destinations before reaching the conclusion that the best places to invest in golf property are actually located beyond Europe’s borders.
With the golf season now well-underway, Spain will be hoping to build on the success which has seen tourism grow by 7.9% year-on-year (Source: Frontur) and a surprising 35.7% increase in tourists from the USA.
Unfortunately for property investors looking to make their stay in Spain more permanent, a typical Spanish 2 bedroom Spanish golf property is likely to cost in the region of £150,000 / €177,000 which is more than twice as much as a 2-bedroom apartment close to a golf course in Turkey.
Loxley McKenzie, Managing Director of Colordarcy, commented, “A large number of property investors also like to play golf and this is often what attracts them to overseas property in the first place.
Spain has long been a favourite for British and Northern European investors, however there are other up and coming destinations like Turkey that can also offer the same high quality accommodation with some excellent golf courses nearby.”
Turkey was singled out in the recent Golf Business Community report as showing impressive development in recent years. This has seen it move into 4th place as a world golf destination after Spain, Portugal and Scotland and ahead of countries like Ireland.
The price of property is an added attraction for Turkey according to Colordarcy analysts with a good quality 2-bedroom apartment close to a golf course in Turkey costing as little as £64,000.
However it is the USA which continues to offer the best value when it comes to golf property with luxury 2-bedroom apartments in Florida within walking distance of a golf course available for around £59,000.
McKenzie added, “Looking at the quality of the golf courses, Florida and Turkey offer the best value golf property in the world and for a fraction of the price investors will pay in countries like Spain and Portugal where prices are more than double.
This cancels out the inconvenience of longer flights and investors can also enjoy higher capital growth with Turkey and Florida seeing double digit growth in property prices in the past 12 months.
Spain and Portugal, on the other hand, continues to be weighed down by the huge debts incurred by property speculation, which are still working their way through the system and holding back capital growth on property for the foreseeable future according to the firm.
