Maid of the Mist

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) May 08, 2014

The Maid of the Mist, which operates boat rides on the American side of Niagara Falls, announced that it will open on May 10, later than expected due to the extended winter. To help celebrate the launch of the 129th consecutive season, Maid of the Mist is also offering free rides to mothers on Mother’s Day. To correspond with 2014’s opening, TakeTours is releasing bus tours with daily departures to Niagara Falls for the season.

Those visiting Niagara Falls will notice some changes, as both Maid of the Mist and the new Hornblower Cruises will be riding boats on the river. Hornblower Cruises, the company that will be operating the boats on the Canadian side of the falls, will launch their service May 15.

For more than a century, the rides on both the Canadian and American sides of the falls have been run by Maid of the Mist; starting this season, however, the Canadian half of the business will now be operated by Hornblower Niagara Cruises, an American company that also operates New York’s Statue of Liberty Cruises and San Francisco’s Alcatraz Island Cruises. Though boats on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls will no longer be operated under the “Maid of the Mist” name, the Maid of the Mist will continue to operate as usual on the American side. The Hornblower boats have features such as upper-level decks and various tiered-viewing platforms for unobstructed views. For those looking to stay dry, there are also dry areas featuring sliding glass doors to ensure clear views.

To help travelers plan their vacations this summer, TakeTours.com is releasing daily departures to Niagara Falls with a special ‘buy 2 get 3rd free’ discount. Niagara Falls tours from New York City start at $108 per person including hotel accommodations and bus transportation, and Niagara Falls tours from Boston, start at $165. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of this budget-friendly travel opportunity, and experience this world- known attraction first-hand.
