Lawter & Associates PLLC is proud to announce the best – and worst – fisherman in “The Last Bass” tournament held Nov. 9, 2014 at Lake Eufaula.

The winning anglers Mike Norman of Okmulgee and Nathan Smith of Henreyetta received $9,141. The pair weighed in 13.43 pounds to beat Hunter Stanley and Dalton Brdecko, both of Yukon, who weighed in 12.77 pounds and won $4,986.

The team that won third place and a payout of $2,493, Grey Fowler of Stigler and Sam Filippo of Warr Acres, weighed in 11.82 pounds. Fowler and Filippo also weighed in the overall big bass at 6.06 pounds, which paid out $7,480. The 2nd place winner in the overall big bass category was Danny Thomas and Darrin Thomas, both of Kiefer, who weighed in 5.92 pounds and received a payout of $1,199. Winners for 4th through 35th place received payouts of $1,000 for each team.

The teams that failed to weigh in any fish had a chance to walk away with a prize. Two teams were picked at random from all boats that did not catch anything. Winning the “Worst Fisherman” prize were Howard Hobbs of Adair and Joshua Reed of Okmulgee, who received a $1,199 payout. The “2nd Worst Fisherman” prize went to the team of David McDuffee and Don Wood, both of Choctaw, who received $602. To see the full results, visit http://www.lawterlaw.com/events.

The annual two-person team tournament, which is open to the public, pays back 100 percent of the registration fees with Lawter & Associates adding another $4,000 to the pot. The event includes a total payout of $60,100 for one day of fishing. This year, 374 boats participated.

Oklahoma City personal injury attorney J. Mike Lawter of Lawter & Associates PLLC said the day was mild for November with somewhat windy conditions, which made for a great day of fishing.

“We’d like to congratulate the prize winners and thank everyone who participated in this fun tournament,” Lawter said. “We know many anglers look forward to participating in this positive event, and we hope to see them again next year.”
