According to a study commissioned by Montage, a provider of purpose-built video interviewing solutions to the Global 5000, more than two-thirds (67%) of candidates will adopt a negative impression of your company if you bring them back for more than three rounds of interviews, and nearly half (41%) indicated that more than two rounds are too many. Isolating responses to those active job seekers in the $75,000-$99,000 income bracket, 83% indicated that they would be left with a negative impression of the hiring company if they were asked to return for more than two rounds of interviews.

"What these findings tell us is that even when unemployment levels are inflated, the tolerance for multiple rounds of interviews is lower than one might expect," stated Montage President and CEO Kurt Heikkinen. "The results reinforce what we hear from both job candidates and hiring managers; speed and efficiency are paramount when creating a positive interview experience. Video interviewing is a great way to make the most out of the interview by including all decision-makers early in the process and empowering participants to gain deeper insights into one another," he explained.

The survey also uncovered regional correlations among the survey respondents. When examining survey findings from the Northeast, the threshold for multiple interviews is lower than in the rest of the country. Sixty-two percent of Northeast respondents, compared with approximately 40% of respondents from all other parts of the country combined, reported that they would be left with a negative impression if they were asked to come back more than twice.

Methodology
The study commissioned by Montage, polled a total of 1,345 individuals to elicit a sample size of 200 active job seekers. The 200 participants were surveyed by online questionnaire in October of 2013. All 200 respondents represented U.S. residents at all professional levels who identified themselves as active job seekers who have looked for a new job in the past six months.
