Document generation and reporting software leader Windward today proudly welcomes the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, as the latest participant to join the 2014 Windward Code Wars. The Windward Collegiate Coding Championship, also known as Windward Code Wars, is a challenge that tests the programming knowledge, innovative thinking and teamwork of computer science college students.
Windward Code Wars pits hundreds of teams from top universities who spend the day creating an A.I. character that will battle it out against other A.I. characters in a previously undisclosed programming game. This year the contest will take place Saturday, February 1, 2014.
"Code Wars requires collaborative design, is freshman-friendly, and gives computer science students a chance to represent their school in a really challenging intellectual competition," said David Thielen, Windward's founder and CTO. "It's the most exciting programming contest in the world."
The year 2014 marks the first time a school based in Egypt has taken part in this annual event. It joins a long list of current and past international entrants, including Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Computer Science Center – Saint Petersburg (Russia), and Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (Cuba), as well as many universities throughout Canada, the United States and the globe.
Code Wars is created and run by Windward, and it is also sponsored by Jetbrains and Hewlett Packard. Students on the top three winning teams will be awarded an HP Envy laptop. In addition, each school's first place team receives free copies of JetBrains software.
