Design world anticipates return of Center44 — popular midtown marketplace to re-launch online venue.
“We are lost without you!” said Steven Gambrel (S.R. Gambrel, Inc.) when he heard the news that Center44 would return on January 20th, 2014 as an online resource for exceptional Antiques and Modernism. “A lot of us are very excited,” was Bradley Stephens’ response (Stephens Design Group, Inc.). And Sheila Kehoe, (Pierce Allen) simply said, “We missed you!”
Center44.com, aimed at the design professional and ardent collector, will feature many of the fine dealers who once shared Center44’s huge Midtown showroom, and introduce a selection of new vendors. Vintage and modern furnishings, antiques and artisan-made products, fine art of all periods, and an eclectic mix of the unusual will be presented. There will also be a directory of resources, including Top Designers’ websites and listings to trusted services such as movers, upholsterers and restorers.
Paul Plumadore and Jim Tindell, Center44’s founders with 17 years experience in the design market, will continue in the roles of management, oversight, and customer service. Center44.com vendors will be given a voice in the site’s development, have control of their sales, and direct relationships with a global client base.
Mr. Tindell says, “We feel our biggest contribution is creating a friendly, accessible atmosphere where communication is free-flowing and every effort is made to fulfill the needs of both the dealers and the clients they serve. Moving forward as an online resource, we will continue in exactly the same spirit.”
The easy-to-navigate, product-oriented Center44.com builds upon the trust and transparency that are the hallmarks of Center44, hailed by J. Randal Tarasuk (Charles Pavarini III Design Associates Inc.) as “A phenomenal resource!”
