FirstService Residential Mid-Atlantic, the leading property management company in the Washington DC metropolitan area, hosted an educational roundtable focused on community association management best practice sharing. In addition to the Arlington event, the educational best practice sharing roundtable series has been successfully held across the Mid-Atlantic region including Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New Jersey. Upcoming scheduled events include Charlotte, North Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina and additional roundtables in the DC Metropolitan area, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

The interactive three hour session was attended by board members from numerous managed communities from the Arlington area and several FirstService Residential executives and community managers. Board members represented communities currently managed by FirstService Residential as well as properties currently managed by other firms, or self-managed. The informative session was moderated by FirstService Residential DC Metropolitan President Daniel Bauman.

The session was held at Altavista Condominium, a luxury high-rise located in the heart of Arlington, Virginia which has been managed by FirstService Residential since 2013 and consists of 277 condominiums. This property is situated 20 steps above the Ballston Metro Center, making it ideal for commuters. Altavista offers outstanding one, two, and three-bedroom condominiums, with beautiful glass-enclosed balconies featuring views of the Ballston area, the Washington skyline, National Cathedral, and some spectacular western panoramas with breathtaking sunsets. Building amenities include a 24-hour front desk, on-site management and engineer, modern exercise and fitness center, party room, extra storage space, and gated parking lot.

The agenda was developed based on feedback from attendees. Topics included how to handle multiple renovations at the same time while ensuring quality standards, adherence with association regulations, and staying within budget. Regardless of the topic communication and collaboration between the board, management and owners was a common theme.

“The FirstService Residential roundtable was an insightful knowledgeable discussion of a wide range of topics pertinent to problem solving and innovation,” said Mary Tripp, Treasurer The Waterford House Condominium. “Clever solutions were presented in a free flowing information exchange. It is a not to be missed opportunity to discuss ideas with fellow Board members, managers and executives who have all ‘been there and done that’.”

“We are excited to see that our Arlington roundtables are successfully creating a forum where volunteer Board members from condominium buildings throughout Arlington can be educated through a process of collaboration with their counterparts in the neighborhood," said Daniel Bauman, President of FirstService Residential DC Metro, who hosted the event. He further noted that, "It is inspiring to experience the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm of the Board members. The resulting dialog, the open sharing of best practices, and the feedback demonstrates how much value these roundtables offer to the Board members who participate. As we continue to host these roundtables in Arlington and introduce them throughout the area, we anticipate experiencing the same results."
