About Ranker:

Ranker, a Quantcast Top 250 destination doing over 150 million monthly pageviews, is a crowdsourced platform that consumers visit to view, rank, and vote on broad opinion-based rankings ranging from the best board games to hottest celebrities. Outside of a few verticals such as travel and restaurants, crowdsourced answers in list format are spotty or nonexistent, even as consumer demand for opinion-based answers is far outpacing other queries. Additionally, Ranker’s technology powers polls on over 1800 websites via a distributed widget. Ranker was built on semantic data, with visitors to the site participating and adding an “opinion layer” which Ranker has built into a graph that provides unique consumer insights and granular psychographics.

Ranker was founded by Clark Benson, a lifelong entrepreneur with four prior successful startups. The last was eCrush, a top 10 online dating service (acquired by Hearst). Ranker is backed by Draper Associates, Rincon Venture Partners, Siemer Ventures, Lowercase Capital, Data Collective, BullPen Capital, Gil Elbaz, Tech Coast Angels and Pasadena Angels.
