Promotion Reflects Company’s Recognition of Tatro’s Contribution to Steady Growth and Success

EarthRoamer, the global leader in Xpedition Vehicle (XV) engineering, design and manufacturing ( is proud to announce the promotion of Tyler Tatro from Chief Operating Officer to President and COO. The promotion recognizes Mr. Tatro’s contributions to the company’s success and his accomplishments across every major department including service, production, engineering, marketing, sales and accounting. He has been the driving force behind many design improvements, systems, and processes the company uses today. Under his management EarthRoamer has seen steady growth and increasing revenue and profitability each year. His philosophy of building premium vehicles with unwavering attention to quality and reliability has proved successful, with production increasing at an annualized rate of 78% from 2009 through 2013. Mr. Tatro has attained this growth in an extremely challenging economic environment while remaining loyal to the initial vision of Founder and CEO, Bill Swails.

“Tyler’s strong work ethic, confident leadership style and diverse experience in every aspect of the EarthRoamer business, uniquely qualifies him to lead the next stage of EarthRoamer’s growth. In Tyler’s capable hands, I am confident that EarthRoamer will continue to advance its leadership position in the global expedition vehicle marketplace." -Bill Swails, EarthRoamer Founder and CEO.

Mr. Tatro joined the company in 2007 as a Production Technician. He quickly proved himself on the factory floor and began a rapid series of promotions through every department including Service Manager, Production Manager, Sales Manager, Chief Operating Officer and now, at just age 30, President and COO. He taught himself the required systems and software along the way, and took the initiative to improve or create processes that have streamlined the business and strengthened the EarthRoamer brand.

Mr. Tatro credits growing up in his family’s business, and witnessing how a company runs from the inside, for the development of a strong work ethic and a business savvy mind. His ability to teach himself complicated systems began at an early age. When he was just five years old, his father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and he quickly learned to fix things around the house and solve problems on his own. The experience instilled in him a resourcefulness he draws upon when faced with challenges today.

Later in life, a love of travel was ignited when he studied abroad in Spain, and was boosted further when he journeyed to Costa Rica on a volunteer program. In his volunteer work, he taught disabled adults useable skills and how to build furniture. The challenge of teaching across a language barrier honed his communication skills and he developed a deep appreciation for working closely in a team.

While in Costa Rica, Mr. Tatro applied for and was offered a position at EarthRoamer. He immediately aligned with the company’s “Live Your Dream” philosophy, and his do-it-yourself skill set was a natural fit for a business centered around building self-sufficient vehicles. Just seven years later, Mr. Tatro is leading the company. As President and COO, Mr. Tatro promises a continued commitment to the culture of innovation and quality that makes EarthRoamer the global leader in its industry.

Mr. Tatro received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Colorado University and lives in Westminster, Colorado with his wife Jessica and son Wells.
