New York, NY (PRWEB) January 30, 2014
The legal media company Lawdragon Inc. has announced the names of the individuals to make the 2013-2014 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America, its annual list of the best of the American legal profession. This is the 8th Lawdragon 500 since the company’s founding in 2005.
The Lawdragon 500 covers all practice areas and geographic regions, and it includes lawyers from private practices of all sizes, businesses, governments, law schools and public interest organizations. Selections are based in part on submissions from law firms and other organizations, as well as votes through an online form, though the staff’s own editorial research is the most important factor in the selection process.
The lawyers in the list will be featured in the Lawdragon 500 guide of Lawdragon’s 2014 annual print Magazine, due out in the Spring.
Notable trends this year include an increase in younger attorneys, corporate counsel and women on the list, with women making up nearly 30 percent of the 500 members. The 2013-2014 guide also includes more lawyers recognized for their pro bono work, including lawyers at private law firms who marshal tens of thousands of hours of legal services on behalf of immigrants, the poor, children and others in need.
As in past years, lawyers from prominent corporate law firms who handle the highest-dollar-value transactions and litigation make up a significant portion of the list. Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has the most attorneys on the 2013-2014 guide, with a total of 33, while fellow New York-based law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore has the second most with 24 attorneys. Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, also both based in New York, each have 19 attorneys on the guide.
“We're incredibly proud to honor this year's Lawdragon 500 members, who truly are the best of the best,” said Lawdragon Founder and CEO Katrina Dewey. “We're particularly excited about the new crop of great lawyers who have shown a very forward-looking perspective and are emerging to take leadership roles in evolving areas of the profession.”
