New Playground by GameTime and Dominica Recreation Products Achieves a Park and Recreation Milestone in New Port Richey, Florida
New Port Richey, FL (PRWEB) February 10, 2014 -- Near Florida’s Gulf Coast, along the banks of the Pithlascotee River, lies the James E. Grey Preserve. This 80-acre park is a beautiful wildlife refuge and part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, with 140 different kinds of birds. It is a popular site for local and visiting families to catch a glimpse of “Old Florida” nature.
Until recently, it was also the only park in New Port Richey without a playground, a distinction that the Rotary Club of New Port Richey was determined to change. The Rotary Club financed the new playground and worked with Dominica Recreation Products to create a play area that blended with the natural environment and provided accessible play opportunities for children ages 2-12. Dominica Recreation Products is the area’s exclusive representative for GameTime, a leading manufacturer of commercial playgrounds, headquartered in Fort Payne, Alabama.
The City of New Port Richey managed the site preparation for the new playground and situated it near picnic shelters in hopes that it will encourage even more families to discover the park. Parks and Recreation Director Elaine Smith said, “The park is 80 acres of wilderness preserve right in the middle of New Port Richey. A lot of people don’t even realize you can really get back to nature here.”
With the addition of the new GameTime playground, the City has achieved an important milestone and taken steps to reconnect families with nature and to encourage a love of the outdoors for generations to come.
