The Confession Box, a new outdoor patio concept specializing in small batch spirits, beer and food, has conducted its soft opening in Mary Brickell Village. It’s located on the second floor above Oceanaire and next to Fadó Irish Pub who operate the concept. The idea for Confession Box was born out of the desire to make a small place that focuses on small labels and provides a fun, ‘easy hang’ for Brickell locals.
The Confession Box name was taken from a pub owned by Fadó Irish Pub owner Kieran McGill’s father in Dublin. “The Pub was technically called McGill’s but locals called it the Confession Box because it was about the size of a living room and it sat next to a Cathedral in the city center. "My dad ran it for years and it was always packed and always full of great stories,” commented McGill.
The Confession Box in Miami has modern touches- contemporary design, a focus on small batch spirits and craft beer and a small plate food menu. But at the heart of Confession Box is its size and location. “Everything in Miami and Brickell is so big and ‘see and be seen’, further states McGill. "We wanted to create an alternative; something small and tucked away that can generate a great little buzz for the people that know about it. We want it to have an intimacy. If it had four walls I think it would be the smallest bar in Miami.”
Despite its size the Confession Box has a big menu offering that will rotate weekly. The Confession Box signature cocktail is the Sunday Morning made with Bulleit Bourbon, muddled strawberry, sweet vermouth, fresh lime and egg white. Other early cocktail favorites include the Little White Lie (Azunia Blanco Organic Tequila, fresh grapefruit, lime, soda splash, salt rim) and Silver Nail (Death’s Door Gin, fresh lemon, Luxardo Maraschino Originale liqueur).
Confession Box also introduces to Miami the ‘Stacked’ shot menu (four to choose from); a new presentation on two part shots artfully stacked one on top of the other. The beer menu is anchored by brewers like Funky Buddha, Wynwood Brewing, Cigar City, and New Belgium.
The food at Confession Box follows the ‘small’ theme with a selection of Small Plates, Small Burgers and a three taco trios; all made fresh to order.
