Astor & Black, a name synonymous with luxury custom menswear, is officially operational again after being purchased from chapter 7 bankruptcy. With almost 9 years of active business, the once thriving brand closed its doors last August, one year after its corporate relocation to Pembroke Pines, FL. Joe Chay, Founder and CEO of the up-and-coming custom men’s brand Bello Verde, purchased the company on January 29th, 2014 with hopes of reviving the brand as a sister label. A former employee of Astor & Black, Chay, sought his own custom suiting endeavors in October of 2012 with his new brand, Bello Verde.
After the increasing success of his startup, Chay made the strategic and timely move of buying Astor & Black in hopes of maintaining the momentum and dedicated followers of the freshly disassembled brand. “I haven’t officially decided the future role that Astor & Black will play in my company,” Chay states, “but until that concept materializes, I want former clients to realize that they can still get the A&B brand they have come to know and love.”
