The trio broke up in 2007 and earlier this month, announced their plans to reunite. Aside from the announcement of their album release, the group also released a new single called “Love of Mine” and will be starting a tour beginning on April 16.
Their seventh studio album "A Dotted Line" is scheduled to be released on April 1st, just weeks before their latest tour kicks off. It will be their first release since "Who Should the Fire Die?," which reached the top of the American Independent and Bluegrass album charts. The trio is considered a progressive bluegrass acoustic group that will bring their unique sounds back to the masses in celebration of their 25 year anniversary.
In 2003, Nickel Creek won the Grammy Award for “Best Contemporary Folk Album,” their lone Grammy Award victory, to go with four other nominations. They had also won several other awards during their career together including the “CMT Top 10 Country Compilations of 2006” for "Reasons Why: The Very Best."
The 2014 tour for Nickel Creek will kick off at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama, before concluding on July 26 with a show at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. In between, the trio will play shows at the world famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN; Beacon Theatre in New York City, House of Blues in Boston, MA.; and the Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA. This will be their first tour since the 2005 “Farewell (For Now) Tour.”
