6th Street Consulting (6SC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new SharePoint 2013 migration project for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), a regional fire service agency that serves 23 cities and over 1,680,000 residents in Orange County, California and all its unincorporated areas.

OCFA had considered upgrading their SharePoint 2007 environment for a number of years and were searching for a consulting firm to assist them with the deployment. With over 71 fire stations in six operational divisions, the project required a complete overhaul of both the OCFA’s current physical architecture as well as their information architecture to promote collaboration, timely circulation of information, and an intuitive design to promote user adoption. OCFA was particularly interested in SharePoint 2013’s new capabilities including mobile support, enhanced Fast Search functionality, and new social features with SharePoint Newsfeeds and Yammer integration.

In August 2013, the OCFA team decided to move forward with the SharePoint 2013 migration project and put out a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the public. After considering several different proposals from a number of consulting firms, OCFA chose 6SC based on their experience, proven track record of successful SharePoint deployments, integration skills (Office 365, Yammer, etc.), and their unique approach to SharePoint branding and user adoption. This SharePoint 2013 project is scheduled to start in February 2014 and the team anticipates to have the project launched and user community trained by May 2014.
