Sellers Dorsey announced that Stephen A. Smith has joined the firm as Senior Vice President for Business Development. A seasoned healthcare executive and former high ranking state official, Smith will be responsible for growing the firm and expanding its footprint in different markets. He will be based in Orlando, Florida and will work with Sellers Dorsey’s team of experts in Medicaid financing, waiver development, HIT, managed care, and health care policy.

Smith has more than 23 years of experience in identifying and implementing health care solutions. He comes to Sellers Dorsey from CGI, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of healthcare solutions to state and local governments. As former Governor Mitch Daniels’s first director of the Department of Aging in Indiana, he reformed the state’s long term care system by increasing home and community-based options and improving the agency’s financial performance. Following his tenure in state service, he served as the President and CEO of the Indiana Health Care Association. He also worked in eight states while he was at Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) and served on the National Advisory Council on Minority Health and Health Disparities at the National Institutes of Health following his appointment by former Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, Michael Leavitt.
