LPL Financial LLC, the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, an RIA custodian, and a wholly owned subsidiary of LPL Financial Holdings Inc., kicked off its 2014 Institution Services Program Leadership Conference (PLC) today at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida.
More than 240 bank and credit union program executives and managers are gathering for the three-day event, which runs through Friday. The PLC, now in its 10th year, will feature breakout sessions and roundtable discussions on topics including program growth, recruitment, risk, compliance, technology adoption, and strategies for identification of the next generation of financial advisors. The keynote speaker for the conference is television personality, author, and motivational speaker, Ross Shafer.
Discussions will focus on this year’s conference theme – Raising Your Relevance – and will include the critical importance of wealth management for the long-term growth of community banks and credit unions. A 2012 Kerhrer Saltzman profitability and performance study showed that LPL advisors in banks and credit unions derive 2.4 times more recurring revenue than advisors in broker dealers not affiliated with LPL Financial. As of February 2014, LPL Financial internal reports indicate that of those bank and credit unions affiliated with LPL Financial, their advisory assets under management increased 33 percent from $7.5 billion in 2012 to $10 billion in 2013.
LPL Financial Institution Services currently has 724 affiliated financial institutions, and according to the Kerhrer Saltzman 2012/2013 Annual Third Party Broker Dealers Survey, has been the market leader in this space for the past seven years, based on gross dealer concession, number of financial institution partners, and total advisors.
