The OCR World Championships (OCRWC), obstacle course racing's first independent championship is expanding into new international territory. Today the inclusion of a new international qualifying event was announced with The Jeep Warrior Race, one of South Africa’s largest obstacle race series. This adds to an already impressive list of qualifier races that includes qualifying races that has extended its reach into the UK with the Dirty Dozen Races, Nuclear Race and Tough Guy the Netherlands with Mud Masters and Strong Viking and Australia with True Grit.
“Our vision of unifying this sport is starting to become a reality in a big way,” said OCRWC founder Adrian Bijanada. “With the addition of The Jeep Warrior Race, and with their top athletes coming to the States in October, this event is poised to be one of the most diverse competitions in OCR history. It will truly be a global representation of the sport.”
Taking advantage of a booming market in South Africa, The Jeep Warrior Race is a rapidly growing race series offering eight events in 2014. Participants at each of their races through October will have the opportunity to qualify for the OCRWC by finishing in the top 20 of their age group. Additionally, race organizers will sponsor their top elite male and female to attend the OCR World Championships which are being held on October 25th & 26th in Cincinnati, OH.

About the OCR World Championships:
The OCR World Championships, announced in December 2013, is the first truly independent championship event designed to celebrate the athletes in the burgeoning sport of obstacle course racing. The race will be held on October 25th & 26th, 2014 in Cincinnati, OH. It will be one of the broadest competitive events in the sport with over 16 racing categories including elite, age-group, and team competitions, and will feature over 50 categories for cash and prizes for athletes.
