Houston, TX (PRWEB) March 13, 2014
The Ivy Family Office Network hosted its March 2014 Family Office Outlook Forum in Houston, TX on March 4th. Jack Bixler of TSWR Fund Management led a panel discussion on “Non Correlated Investment Strategies”.
Bixler commented, “There is a great opportunity for growth in saltwater Disposal Wells with the increase drilling activity in Texas especially west Texas known as the Permian Basin. With proven reserves topping 50 billion barrels recoverable in the Permian basin and new drilling technologies including lateral drilling techniques and multi-stage Fracking, new wells are producing up to 1500 barrels of oil a day with water production at least that equivalent and many times higher.
The water has to be disposed of properly and the EPA preferred method is SWD wells. At the well head, the oil and water are separated. The oil is piped to collection areas and the water is stored to be picked up by water trucks and delivered to SWD facilities.
We invest in opportunities in the Permian Basin where 25% of all of US rigs are located. Over 4000 wells are being drilled each year in the Permian basin creating an ever growing need for water disposal.
Revenues are derived from two sources: 1) Fees charged per barrel for water disposal, 2) Sale of skim oil we separate from the water received. The skim oil is only +/- .5% of the liquid received but can be a significant income source. We continue to work with companies attempting to ‘clean’ the saltwater, but at this time the process is simply too expensive.”
Other speakers on the panel included Anthony Gellert of Livingston Capital and Lamar Smith of Hedge Harbor.
