ACDIS—the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists—announced today the promotion of CDI Education Director Cheryl Ericson to Associate Director, Education for ACDIS.
“This promotion reflects Cheryl’s greater involvement in developing the educational resources that have been a hallmark of ACDIS since its launch in October 2007,” said ACDIS Director Brian Murphy. “Cheryl is an integral part of the ACDIS team, and this promotion ensures additional quality resources, products, and services for our membership.”
Since her hire in April 2012, Ericson has updated classroom materials for HCPro’s CDI Boot Camp and ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp to incorporate the sweeping changes in the healthcare industry. She has delivered numerous webinars and made multiple live speaking appearances, including presentations at ACDIS and AHIMA national conferences. Ericson also serves on the Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) credential exam board and the ACDIS advisory board.
Prior to joining HCPro, Ericson managed clinical documentation integrity (CDI), core measures abstraction, and utilization review departments at a large academic medical center. She has an extensive background in adult education, data analysis, healthcare revenue cycle, and CMS guidelines.
Ericson has worked to advance the CDI profession, collaborating on the 2010 and 2013 CDI/query practice briefs. Within the field of CDI, her expertise includes CDI implementation, CMS quality metrics/Hospital Value-Based Purchasing, ICD-10-CM/PCS, InterQual guidelines/medical necessity, mortality reviews, PEPPER data, and querying.
Now in its seventh year, ACDIS is a community of nearly 4,000 CDI professionals who share the latest tips, tools, and strategies to implement successful CDI programs and achieve professional growth.
