Successful project delivery continues to decline. Often times companies blame the increase in complexity of developing products or applications in today's fast-paced, priority-shifting modern world. Regardless if the products are developed for the internal corporate user of the customer, today's products are multifaceted and complex because we live in a multi-dimensional world. In addition, expectations are increasingly more unrealistic with superman-like functionality, multi-platform features and 'need-it-in-a-week' demands. And as much as technology has changed our lives at work and at home, it is amazing to think that there continue to be more implementation failures than successes.

A recent study conducted by Forrester, "The State of Modern Product Delivery" asked 150 product development and product marketing decision-makers "What problems commonly arise during the process of creating a credible timeline for development and delivery?" An amazing 41% of the respondents admitted that they "cannot agree on requirements based on conflicting priorities and opinions". And 35% of the respondents stated that they "fail to do proper scoping and estimation"

Sherrie Simmons, founder of the action-based, execution-centric project management firm, Agilitus responds to these numbers with a calm, "Not surprising. That is exactly why Agilitus exists. I have dedicated my career to inserting reality into timelines and being a true advocate to the customer whether internal or external. So many of our initial clients contacted us after the train left the station and things started going sideways."

Other challenges that were highlighted in the study include complex communication channels, the need for continuous feedback loops, asynchronous communication, and an increased demand for frequent releases. Simmons agrees, "Modern product delivery demands a modern project manager. The modern project manager solves problems, communicates with clarity and precision to focus the team on planning and execution. It is critical that project managers provide leadership which is essential in influencing those that can affect the timeline, budget, and scope of the initiative in a way that helps drive quick decisions and gain the support necessary for an organization's alignment."

The team at Agilitus leverages the latest and greatest collaboration technology so clients know what is going on in real-time. Teams today are global and complex. Agilitus provides a path to enable continuous feedback by embracing technology to ensure sponsors, stakeholders and team members at all levels and regardless of location have the information they need whenever and where ever. Simmons adds, "We have proven that keeping everyone in the loop is essential and drives better results."
